See this semi-blurry dudebro? He took it upon himself to ask very, very loudly the ‘kind’ of people that would buy things like bras & underwear at Goodwill. I waited a bit to see if maybe he just made one privileged dudebro comment, but he continued on for another 10 minutes or so.

As dudebro & his friends went to check out I went up to him & told him the ‘kind’ of people that buy those things are people leaving domestic violence situations, people who have lost everything they have, & people that have suddenly become homeless, so stop being a dick about certain ‘kinds’ of people. This did not make him all that happy…but he was more than happy enough to pose for this picture as I told him I was about to post it.

It went downhill from there. I was called a ‘feminist cunt’, a ‘dirty lesbian’, a ‘bitch’, & a whole slew of other things. It was dudebro behavior & all the misogyny that went along with it. And people wonder why I never go in public…this kind of thing happens every single day.

I’ve always backed down & gone somewhere to hide when dudebros have gotten dickish towards me. The only difference between today & most other days is that I didn’t just run away & cry when somebody tried to scare me into shutting up.

I will not shut up. I refuse to shut up. Fuck. That. Noise.

This has been a ‘shaking so hard from anger that it is difficult to type’ rage-y post from Ginger. Carry on.

I’m not a violent person, but someone needs to punch this guy in the face. I can understand how a privileged white dude may not understand how or why some people end up buying underwear at Goodwill — fine. But when someone explains it and provides examples, the proper response is “Oh! I see. I’d never thought about it. It was insensitive of me to make a comment like that.”

You’re my hero, Ginger. I’d have ducked away! I have a lot of bad dudebro experiences, too, but not quite like this.
